Nicki Minaj’s recent foray into politics on behalf of a controversial Trump foreign policy position seems to have led the rapper to go full MAGA. Minaj’s social media has been dominated by posts, reshares and memes celebrating the Trump administration and even trading shots with President Donald Trump’s adversary Gov. Gavin Newsom. Even the vice president has jumped in, commenting on Minaj’s long-time rap beef in the process.

Minaj shares posts about Nigeria, pro-Trump memes

Ever since Nicki Minaj endorsed Trump’s incomplete and misleading claims about Christian persecution in Nigeria, many people have speculated about Minaj’s political affiliations. Now, she seems to be putting any doubts to rest, explicitly celebrating the MAGA movement on social media. Throughout December, Minaj has shared social media posts by several conservative figures praising her for endorsing the narrative of religious persecution in Africa’s most populous nation. Minaj has also reshared other posts and memes on X from explicitly pro-Trump accounts like “Donaldo Trumpo” and  “Trump War Room.”

Celebrating Trump, Melania and Vance

Among Minaj’s reposts was a long post celebrating the president and his wife, First Lady Melania Trump.

Minaj has also exchanged posts with Vice President JD Vance. In a now deleted post on X, Minaj posted a GIF of Chucky, the main character of the Child’s Play horror franchise, with the caption “Vance > Rants.” The vice president himself responded to the post, weighing in on Minaj’s years-long rap beef by posting “Nicki>Cardi.”

Minaj praised Vance in another post, again using a picture of Chucky to illustrate her point. “Nothing brings me joy like the Vance memes & knowing he leaned into it like a boss,” she wrote, adding, “But make no mistake, Vance is an assassin. Don’t debate him. On anything. Quick as a computer. Maybe quicker.”

Attempted feud with Newsom

Minaj has also taken several shots at California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a vocal critic of Trump and the MAGA movement. Minaj mocked Newsom for recent comments he made about supporting trans people, including children. “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha,” Minaj wrote in one post. “Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids,” she continued, followed by various plays on Newsom’s name, such as “the Gav Nots.”

For anyone wondering if Minaj’s cosigning of Trump’s Nigeria stance was an issue-specific endorsement or part of a larger show of support for the president’s agenda, the last few weeks have seemingly answered that question. Minaj’s embrace of Trump’s international agenda has earned her the attention of high-ranking officials like the president and the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and even has led to Minaj speaking at a UN event. Minaj’s stance has also earned her controversy, with critics and even followers questioning her apparent decision to embrace MAGA. So far, though, Minaj seems to be welcoming the spotlight.
